An overview of the following issues presented by Jeff:

Old Business:
PITLC Grant & APMP Status:  Discussion ensued. Northern Environmental/DNR issues have delayed the completion of the VVL APMP.  Mike Czarny has volunteered to contact Otto Novak of PITLC to get information from NE relating to the status of the APMP and to obtain a rough draft of the VVLA plan from NE.

New Business:
Clean Boats/Clean Waters:  Ronie Jacobsen and Jill Wilm have established a plan for CBCW at the boat landing on VVL.  (Attach copy of Ronie's presentation.   See CBCW section of website.) The goal is to interact with boaters on Van Vliet Lake with a friendly, brief interview and to educate them about the importance of stopping the spread of aquatic invasive species.  Sign up sheets are available for target dates throughout the boating/fishing season (7/18, 8/1, 8/22, 9/5).  Also, residents are encouraged to work in pairs (2 hour shifts) at the landing whenever they are able to as Steve and Nancy Frank have offered to keep a deck box of CBCW materials outside their home (next to the boat landing) for volunteers to access at any time.  As of this date, Ronie reports that 6 residents have participated on 3 days for a total of 16 hours.  These hours are recorded as in-kind hours to help cover the town’s cost share of grant monies received for the construction of informational kiosks at our boat landings.  Please contact Ronie or Jill for more information and to sign up for a couple hours of duty at the landing.

Website Information Paul suggested PI Ordinances relating to watercraft be included on the VVLA website.

Introduction of Guests:  Jeff introduced our guests:

Howard Meyer, PI Constable, who discussed local ordinances and enforcement procedures.  Howie gave us an overview of watercraft and other ordinances most often requiring his attention and he encouraged residents to call him at any time with their concerns.

Rich Thole, WIDNR Conservation Warden, spoke to the Warden’s role in enforcement including registration of boats, life vests on board and personal watercraft issues.  He answered questions about excessive plant growth and what type of removal is allowed with and without permits from the DNR; also addressing the issue of using aquacides to eliminate excessive plant growth – AN INDIVIDUAL MAY NOT JUST BUY AND APPLY – and one should contact the DNR with questions.  Warden Thole encouraged residents to contact him with any concerns.

Declining Lake Levels Conference:  Jeff presented information from this conference (highlight points & attach copy).  Notes are on file & may be posted to the website.  Jeff's report

Review of latest septic infoJeff presented current information and  Ronie will update on the website.

Other:  A resident suggested the VVLA endorse a commendation to Fred Walters for his efforts on behalf of the residents of Presque Isle.  No action was taken.

Adjournment:  Motion by Paul, 2nd by Mike @ 11:40pm.  Motion carried.

Respectfully submitted,
Jorja Burke, Secretary
