Dear Van Vliet Friend,

Please read this letter carefully. There will be no newsletter.

Website: As we have been telling you for the last two years, our Lake Association has a website, www.vanvlietlake.com. Henceforth, that website will be the main source of information to members and others interested in lake related info, taking the place of the newsletter. It is for this reason that you should make it a habit to check the website frequently- put it in your favorites list, place the enclosed magnet on your refrigerator, stick a note on your computer...... Items of an urgent nature, special notices and the like will be sent out via U.S. mail when deemed necessary. Those members without internet access have these options: use the computer in your local library or phone President Jeff Burke (715 686-2557) or Vice president Jill Wilm (715 686-7396) with questions or concerns. If there are items you would like posted on the website, submit them to Jill by phone or by mail (12045 Baer Rd. P.I. 54557).

A big north woods thank you to Ronie Jacobsen for volunteering to be webmaster and doing such a terrific job of revamping the site and keeping it up to date !!!

Annual meeting notice: The 2007 Van Vliet Lake Association annual meeting will be held on Saturday, August 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00p.m.. The location of the meeting and a complete agenda will be posted on the website soon.

Members running for board positions are:


Treasurer- Paul Specht

Members-at-large- Ronie Jacobsen, Steve Smithson

Additional nominations of candidates who will be present at the annual meeting and be willing to serve must be sent to the association secretary (Jorja Burke, 12099 Streator Rd. P.I. 54557) at least 60 days prior to the annual meeting to be included on the ballot.

Members who are not able to attend the meeting and who wish to vote by absentee ballot must request such a ballot no later than 14 days in advance of the official vote.

Post meeting hike: Following the annual meeting, Dave Picard of the Board of Commissioners of Public Land (BCPL) will lead a hike through a portion of the Van Vliet Hemlocks. More information on this hike will be posted on the website.
