VAN VLIET LAKE SURFACE WATER STUDY
The Town of Presque Isle’s (TPI) Town Lake Committee(PITLC) is sponsoring a project to survey and update the aquatic plant community and AIS status of Van Vliet Lake.
PITLC and the Van Vliet lake Association would like an updated study of Van Vliet Lake, as it has been seven years (2018) since the last study. Van Vliet Lake is on the Vilas County 2021 High Quality Waters list and remains an important asset to Vilas County.
The Surface Water Grant application was submitted on November 17th 2025 to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources .
The overall goal of this project is to review the current aquatic ecosystem of Van Vliet Lake by analyzing its health and diversity, documenting any changes, and documenting any aquatic invasive species.
The status of approval of the grant will be known in early March 2026.
